My husband, a devout Catholic and much more pious than I am. He always admonished me that should I visit a place for the first time, most especially a church, I should make a wish.
I am not a religious person but I absolutely love places of worship. I will light candles, kneel at alters, touch my forehead to the floor and follow the rituals because I feel God resides everywhere in the universe. Love the shots.
You are so right. I give the same respect and reverence when I visit mosques, temples, gurudwara and other places of worship. While I may call it courtesy and religious tolerance, yes I concur, we can worship God or whatever we call Him anywhere.
Thank you. I lingered in these churches. I’m awed by their old world charm. The sacredness is almost palpable and rubs off on you. As to the first shot of Santa Monica Church aka Alburquerque Church, I intentionally framed it with palm fronds for some drama. (Blush!)

I just love to see and visit old churches. I am not a particularly religious individual, however they inspire something in me.

Your photo’s capture these churches beautifully. Churches are a sanctuary for all. I love the palm lined path and surrounding palms in the first shot.

Hi Eva,
Great photos. I was raised Catholic and my Mom said the same thing – make a wish when you enter a Church for the first time.

Thanks for the validation!
