Hi Tilly, the MAM is a relatively ‘baby’ museum unlike the MOMA or the Tate so its collection is I’d say lame compared to the others but it is this free spirit and light weight collection that makes their exhibits playful, fancy and easy on the eye. Even their Picasso ‘The Cock of St. Peter’ is among his inferior works but I guess it was a donation. Most works were donated by rich families rather than acquisition by the museum itself. They have a Georgia O’Keefe section though. But yes, the building is immaculate and divine.
Eva – What a treat to see such wonderful art this morning! Always great to see some old familiar works mixed with something completely unfamiliar! Just wondering, were we correct regarding your location? Happy Cinco di Mayo
Hi Lotta, happy Cinco De Mayo to you too but here we celebrate the end of May as Flores de Mayo where little children play angels. I’d like to tell you the location of my Guess Where Ask Lotta Post. It’s in the island of Bohol. Dolphin watching was in Panglao Island, the hills are called Chocolate Hills because they can get brown during the dry summer season, the sandbar where people sell sea urchins for salad is called the Virgin Island. And of course the witch in a broom stick is an angel in disguise. Happy weekend!
Oh My…Never in a million years would we have figured out that paradise! And I do love the name Chocolate Hills! I will put this down as one of my destination spots, it looks beautiful.
I’ve learned something new (Flores de Mayo) festival of the last May flowers, offerings to the Virgin Mary. The celebration continues for a month…how lovely!
Thank you for adding so much beauty and fun to my life!
xo,
Lotta
Hi! Would you believe I actually sat on some of the many dozen chairs on display at the Chair Section at the basement of the museum – at least where sitting is allowed. I’m glad you liked them.
Inspiring art and a gorgeous building. When I look at the “FOOL” artwork, I laughed because I couldn’t help reading it in a Mr T voice! Thanks for posting.

Oh My, These are such interesting pieces! Sigh. Reminds of the time when I used to study art.
Eva said:
Yeah, funky, fancy installation pieces and modern art. So you gave up art studies for writing?
Writes2escape said:
Sort of! I was always interested in writing, and I really thought I was considerably less creative than my peers in the art department. 😛

I see. I’m into art appreciation as I am not artistic nor creative myself. Thanks for visiting and have a lovely weekend!
